Bloc Party were forced off stage mid-set during their gig in Aberdeen last night after a member of the audience threw a coin at Kele Okereke.
The band left the stage for a short break before returning to finish the gig after the incident which happened two songs into the set.
Bloc Party are currently on a UK tour promoting their latest album ‘A Weekend In The City’.
Twas a good show [thanks to Dale for the ticket :D]. Heard Kreuzberg for the first time live. I love how Matt and Gordy do their overlapping backing vocals - it was really sweet. Gordy wasn’t well tonight [he has the flu] but he did a great job nonetheless, bless ‘im! We threw flowers on the stage [you know, it being Valentine’s Day tomorrow and all]. I threw a red rose in Gordy’s direction. He picked it up and read my note *blush*. I also threw a packet of flu tablets and cough drops at Gordy [they just happened to be in my bag]. Kele thanked everyone for being so kind. They’d never had so many things thrown at them before. And Gawd - the security were really really rough with the crowd surfers. They didn’t like it at all. I saw a couple of people grabbed really hard. And some fucker decided to knock my camera [deliberately] while I was filming [filmed the whole gig :D]. I could have decked him, the moron! Only bad thing was, it was a mare getting home. I missed one train and then the last train was cancelled. We had to be bused to Letchworth and then got a train to Kings Cross and then I had to get 3 buses home. I didn’t get in until 2am. I think I’ll stick to London gigs in future…

Instead of the twitchy guitars and the yelping vocals, they’ve shot for a more accessible approach similar to that of Coldplay or U2.

When I got to the venue today, there was nobody about, so I went to get a coffee. By the time I got back, as I was walking down the street, I spotted Kele, who was wearing a yellow t-shirt and is just so striking you can’t help but see him [plus, he was grinning like a Cheshire cat, whilst speaking to someone]. I waved and gave him a grin, while I went to find out who took my spot [LOL!] as I saw a young man sitting on the steps before me. His name was Dan [who I know from the BlocParty.net forum]. It’s always nice to put a face to a name, so I had a chum with me to while away the time.
Kele came over to us to say hello and we had a quick chat. Then he went inside for sound check.
Later, a few more board members came along - so greets and salutations to Jack, Ben, Aly, Alex, Rebekah, Seb, John, Jim and Sean.

Another great set tonight from Bloc Party. The opening act tonight was Metric - they were ok, only a couple of songs I really liked. Their bass player is a complete hottie [what’s with me and bass players?]. I got totally squashed by inconsiderate apes pushing towards the barrier. I couldn’t even get my groove on.
Kele put on his old school blazer halfway through the set and then threw it into the crowd. He also threw his old school tie. I tell ya, I’m way jealous of the people who caught those…

Afterwards I met Gordy, Russell and Kele and their families [tonight was family night]. They had to get out pretty quick due to G.A.Y. being on. I asked Kele about “On” [as people have been wondering whether the band are going to play it]. He said they hadn’t perfected it. I said I DON’T CARE! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLAY IT! He said they might. So, hopefully, we’ll get “On” tomorrow night :D.
More London gigs are pencilled in for April. I can’t wait!
